It's a rather quaint town when you get down to it. At least, that's what the Sheriff would argue. Warm and dry in the mornings and afternoons with a brisk coolness in the evenings. The perfect type of weather to just sit out on your rocking chair and observe the comings and goings.
... Of course, there's not much in the way of comings and goings when there aren't any actual people here to watch. Nevertheless, don't let that get you down! The town is your oyster and those roosters won't stop crowing until everyone's out of bed. Up and at 'em, rise and shine, it's time to make the day yours!
After all, there's nothing wrong with the town today and you might just want to savor it while it lasts.

[ ... look, the armor is weird. Regardless, she's quick to accept the correction without embarrassment.
What does an Inquisitor do? Chane's heard the word before, of course, but it could mean something different in the context of proud men walking around in full armor, clanking with every step. ]
[ She's interpreting that as police, even while she's aware that analogy might not be entirely accurate. It's what Chane's most familiar with, after all - especially as a criminal. (Hey, at least she's not a witch!)
She's getting a bit tired of writing now but continues on without indicating it.
That's quite contradictory from the game we're supposed to play here. ]
If they intend for me to remain compliant in the face of such an appalling game, they will be sadly disappointed. I intend to thoroughly stand by my duty.
... [ It shouldn't be surprising to hear such a thing from a self-proclaimed vanguard of peace and defender of his home, but Chane is still at a point in her life when such blatant, unconditional justice seems inexplicable.
It's likely he'll be killed quickly, if what the Sheriff said was absolutely true - and that's not a thought Chane relishes.
Biting back a sigh, because protecting this man will be quite exhausting.
Indeed. My duty does not change, regardless of where I may currently be. Though I owe my sword and my duty to Labyrinthia first and foremost, I cannot allow an unjust situation such as this to progress unchallenged.

[He can answer that firmly enough, at least.]
My role, madam, is to keep the peace and defend the citizenry of my home.

Internally, that is. Outwardly, she's cool as a cucumber.
That's very noble. ]

What matters is that all possible bloodshed is avoided here.

[He'll spare her her suffering over his dumb ass, don't worry.
And he's off!]
