It's a rather quaint town when you get down to it. At least, that's what the Sheriff would argue. Warm and dry in the mornings and afternoons with a brisk coolness in the evenings. The perfect type of weather to just sit out on your rocking chair and observe the comings and goings.
... Of course, there's not much in the way of comings and goings when there aren't any actual people here to watch. Nevertheless, don't let that get you down! The town is your oyster and those roosters won't stop crowing until everyone's out of bed. Up and at 'em, rise and shine, it's time to make the day yours!
After all, there's nothing wrong with the town today and you might just want to savor it while it lasts.
This post functions as the general mingle post for the week. Wanted Posters and other small events will be posted in top levels below. If there's any questions or requests, please send a PM or shoot a PP to robowest.
On the pinboard in the railroad station, three posters have been chosen at random to list under the "Most Wanted" sign. Any character that passes the board by today can spot them, faces posted for all to see. This week's Most Wanted are:
[ Like the Sheriff said Friday night, on Sunday there would be an explanation. It seems like it's time for that explanation when around noon, the Sheriff steps out of the Town Hall (this time dressed a bit more suitable for his title) and brings up his hand to his mouth. A moment later, a shrill whistle rings out through the town for anyone to hear -- no matter where they happen to be -- and the Sheriff calls out. ]
You want answers? I got 'em. Town meeting at the Hall, you got twenty minutes to get on over here or I'm lockin' you out.
[ And with that, he goes back into the Hall and waits those twenty minutes by the door. Whoever's not there in time, will indeed be locked out and that's no problem for the Sheriff. He checks his pocketwatch, turns the lock, and heads up to the front of the room. A small notebook is pulled from his vest a moment later and he begins to speak. ]
Now, we've got a few things on the agenda for today. First and foremost --
[ He looks up at those in the room and lifts a hand to scratch at his beard. ]
Town needs a name, folks. Your choice what to give it. If we could decide on one right here, that would be ideal. If we can't, shove it in the suggestion box and I'll do what I can.
[ The notebook disappears into his vest again and he tucks his fingers into his belt loops, rocking on his heels. ]
Got a festival around these parts, nothing to do with y'all. My employers, let's say. Bring a bunch of a folk from all over to one little town, give it a theme -- as you can tell, this time it's the Wild West -- and let them have at it. I'm here to keep order and you're here to kill each other. Each week, one of yous pick someone else to kill. Rest of y'all use the weekend to figure out who did it. Then you execute the sucker. Good old fashioned justice.
[ Then he sighs and looks a little weary, as if he's already expecting the objections. ]
You don't like it? Too bad. Only way out is to play the game. You don't have to believe me but that's not my problem. The less effort you put into this, the more likely you'll just stay here and rot away. Only folks who get to go home are those who put the work into heading home, alright? Earn your keep, earn your kills, etcera.
Now, I don't really want to do this, nor care to do this -- rather just go back to my office -- but I have my own rules to follow too. So, any questions? I'll answer them as I can.
[ And after, hopefully, all that hullabaloo is good and done with. The Sheriff waits until everyone is quiet and pulls out his notebook again. He reads whatever's on the page before looking at the time on his pocketwatch. He puts both away a moment later to address the group one last time. ]
Right then. I think that covers it all. Other things to note -- there are rules to follow, you will find your rulebooks in your rooms now. There are also two young ladies at the station currently. Please do not bother them or remove them from their cells. They have a purpose, as do you.
If there is anything you need to make living here a more palatable experience, please ask or put it in the suggestion box. Again, my job is to keep order but also to make sure the only thing that kills you is each other. Be wary of the coyotes, don't stay out too late, don't... just whatever stupid idea you've got in your head, just don't.
[ A weary sigh and he pinches the bridge of his nose before gesturing towards the door of the Hall -- which now is surprisingly open. ]
[ And like the Sheriff just said, there are two young ladies at the station currently, each taking residence in one of the jail cells. They seem to be just as befuddled as everyone else but, they're quite free to talk to. If the Sheriff spots you, all he'll do is look on with some vague annoyance but otherwise leave you alone. ]
One person left, ma'am. When we reach the final two people, they'll have a duel and whoever wins the duel can choose the fate of the game and it's participants.
[ Here is girl #1! A mighty nervous looking catgirl sits in one of the cells, not exactly sure what she's doing here but trying to be!! positive!!! despite that. Haha, sudden kidnappings and being thrown into jail is great??? :D????
So, you're more than welcome to talk to her, even if she's quaking in her boots a little. ]
[ Being listed under the week's Most Wanted is... well, it's bewildering, because she hadn't really done anything. Not yet, anyway.
Chane reaches out and pulls the poster off the board, frowning down at it. ]
2. AFTER THE MEETING.
[ Her expression, although pensive, gives away very little. Hands are thrust tightly in her coat pockets. Should someone approach, she'll stop and give them her full and undivided attention. ]
3. WILDCARD.
( It slices, it dices, it's good for all your needs! )
Theme of the game is to do things by your choice, kid. Everything here is up to you and how you decide to do it, including naming the town. Can't feel responsibility for a place if you don't feel ownership of it.
And if that's what you choose to do, can't really stop y'all.
Yes to both questions. Things are a bit flexible that way here in that, even if you die here, you're not quite all the way dead until the game ends. But you do have to put in the effort towards coming back.
[ You know what, that is sound logic that Ao agrees with, which is why she can only give a very nervous grin in response as she wrings her hat in her hand. ]
I don't know.
[ Yikes!! ]
I woke up here and I, uhm. I can't seem to get out.
