[ WEEK ONE ]

WEEK ONE

CURRENT POPULATION: 40

It's a rather quaint town when you get down to it. At least, that's what the Sheriff would argue. Warm and dry in the mornings and afternoons with a brisk coolness in the evenings. The perfect type of weather to just sit out on your rocking chair and observe the comings and goings.

... Of course, there's not much in the way of comings and goings when there aren't any actual people here to watch. Nevertheless, don't let that get you down! The town is your oyster and those roosters won't stop crowing until everyone's out of bed. Up and at 'em, rise and shine, it's time to make the day yours!

After all, there's nothing wrong with the town today and you might just want to savor it while it lasts.

This post functions as the general mingle post for the week. Wanted Posters and other small events will be posted in top levels below. If there's any questions or requests, please send a PM or shoot a PP to [plurk.com profile] robowest.

FITES YOU-

[personal profile] elemancy 2017-01-16 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
[nothing seems to be biting at the moment, so it's not too much of a distraction to turn his head at those sounds.

the bark isn't a familiar one—it's not umbra, that's for sure.

(he doesn't even know where umbra wandered off to, but it's fine. he'll find his way back.)

but it's followed by another voice and a familiar face, and he offers a bit of a half-smile and a nod.]

Yep, good memory you got there. [he considers pulling the line back for a moment, but leaves it instead.] How you holding up?

[there will be attentio for the dog shortly, rest assured.]
hydrokinetics: (May we stay lost on our way home?)

[personal profile] hydrokinetics 2017-01-17 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
[He takes the question as an invitation and he settles next to him, Mrs. O'Leary running up to squirm into his lap. His gaze is on the lake, but his attention's on Noct anyway.]

Pretty hard to forget somebody whose name is "of night." [He thinks. If he translated that right.] Can't say I'm doing any worse than anybody else here. What about you?
elemancy: (pic#10956911)

[personal profile] elemancy 2017-01-17 01:57 am (UTC)(link)
Not bad—didn't think anyone would know what it meant.

[considering nobody else questioned it but natalie, who didn't know what it even meant. the whole name definitely gives the better meaning, but he's not advertising it.]

Okay, I guess. Trying to just get used to it. Figure out how to get us out this mess before something crappy really happens.
hydrokinetics: (you really ain't got it bad)

[personal profile] hydrokinetics 2017-01-17 05:43 am (UTC)(link)
I studied a little Latin for a while. [He even has initials of a Latin phrase on his arm because of it.]

I think we're all trying to figure something out. This wasn't what we expected when we got off the train, and the Sheriff's not talking either. Any ideas so far?
elemancy: (pic#10956926)

[personal profile] elemancy 2017-01-17 08:14 am (UTC)(link)
[for a moment, he considers questioning "latin," because something something, waves hands vaguely about nonsensical language choices on eos, thanks square, etc.

but he'll just chalk it up to one of those weird "everyone's from all kinds of places" things and just figure the name is different than what he's used to, even if the words have the same meaning.]

None yet. Best I can figure it we try to find a way to break the hell out of their game before anyone gets hurt.
hydrokinetics: (I’ve never felt much smaller)

[personal profile] hydrokinetics 2017-01-17 08:36 am (UTC)(link)
[That is for the best for everyone because Percy would also just be Confused. Still, he makes a face and looks down at the water to see if he can spot anyone potentially useful...like a nice large fish.]

If the sheriff's to be believed, we have until tomorrow night and then we're locked in the hotel. I hate that he's calling it a game, too.
elemancy: (pic#10956926)

[personal profile] elemancy 2017-01-17 07:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Same. Sure as hell doesn't feel like a game... but I think that's kinda why I think he's serious about it.

[he's just got that feeling, that something bad really is gonna happen, because it's being treated as a game to everyone but the victims—all of them, stuck there.]
hydrokinetics: (nothing town)

[personal profile] hydrokinetics 2017-01-18 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
[He lifts an eyebrow. This is the first time he's really spoken to someone who's expressed the opinion that way.]

Because it's not his life at stake so he has nothing to lose?
elemancy: (pic#10956925)

[personal profile] elemancy 2017-01-18 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
Something like that.

[he pauses, he's just trying to find the right words.]

I don't know if it's really a game, or if someone just wants us dead... but I think if we take it too light, we're gonna regret it.
hydrokinetics: (Cannot seem to find my way home tonight)

[personal profile] hydrokinetics 2017-01-18 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
But if we take it too seriously, too, we might mis-step and mess up anyway. [He sighs.] It's complicated. I don't know how everybody's reacting but I think maybe only one or two people agree with him anyway.
elemancy: (pic#10866226)

[personal profile] elemancy 2017-01-18 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
Probably the ones we have to worry about most.

[he's not disagreeing with percy about misstepping, either.] Not sure I'm ready to believe that someone else wouldn't be willing to play along, either just because they're not saying it.

[he wants to give people benefit of the doubt, but he knows about betrayal, he knows this as a concept in too many ways.

regardless, it's noct's turn to sigh.]

I dunno. Gotta be something we can do, right?
hydrokinetics: (loserville)

[personal profile] hydrokinetics 2017-01-18 06:46 am (UTC)(link)
I'd argue that the ones who aren't being obvious are really our biggest worries. Those are the ones that are going to attack before we have time to react. [This is such nice, pleasant conversation.]

We can figure something out if we know how the Sheriff's rules really work. He mentioned playing the game but that there are other ways to play even if someone most likely has to die. But what does that even mean?
elemancy: (pic#10866220)

[personal profile] elemancy 2017-01-18 09:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Good point.

[he's not used to situations like this, a lot of things don't stay under wraps for long when you've got an entire empire after you.]

Dunno, most of what he says doesn't make much sense. [or is fucked up. noct frowns, considering it.] Guess maybe we gotta find whoever would play this game and try to stop them.

[preferably not by killing them, but noct does understand the idea of "hey, if someone's gonna try to kill us all, we have to do what it takes to stop them."] There's probably some kind of loophole. Or... something.
hydrokinetics: (I am a man of many hats)

[personal profile] hydrokinetics 2017-01-19 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
[...huh.]

Or...if people really want to play this game, we let them. If they want to get themselves killed, fine, but leave the rest of us out of it so that we can work together to figure out another way out. Why wouldn't that work as a loophole? Nothing says all of us have to play the same way.
elemancy: (pic#10956878)

[personal profile] elemancy 2017-01-19 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, and what if it gets us killed in the process? We're all part of the game to them. Easy target's gonna be the ones who don't want to get caught up in it.

[it's not a good enough loophole, he doesn't think. they're all targets, aren't they?]

Not into seeing innocent people get killed for someone else's sick game, like our lives are some kind of joke.
hydrokinetics: (Turn their heads)

[personal profile] hydrokinetics 2017-01-19 05:27 am (UTC)(link)
I never said I was either. [Just to clear that up. It had been a decent loophole until Noct pointed out that people are certainly unpredictable.]

The opposite of that would then be to make everybody a much harder target by playing along and calling everything a stalemate. I can't really see that happening either, can you?
elemancy: (pic#10866226)

[personal profile] elemancy 2017-01-19 09:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Probably not.

[they can definitely agree on that much.] Seems like there's not gonna be much way to stop people from playing along unless we can find the ones that are set on it somehow.
hydrokinetics: (May we stay lost on our way home)

[personal profile] hydrokinetics 2017-01-19 10:42 pm (UTC)(link)
If I had to guess? It'd be people who do this back wherever they're from, or the people that have way too much to lose if they don't get back. [There's a brief pause.]

But even then, some people might risk their own worlds for the sake of not killing here. So our focus is definitely people who've killed people for sport back home.
elemancy: (pic#10866220)

[personal profile] elemancy 2017-01-20 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. Guess we might be able to figure out some of that from the posters, if there's anything to believe on them.

[he figures that anyone who openly says they're okay with it is a given, so he doesn't bother mentioning that.] Then it's just... trying to figure out who has secrets kept close to the vest.

[which, he imagines, could be a few of them. first impressions can be deceiving for sure.]
hydrokinetics: (To sleep in the stone)

[personal profile] hydrokinetics 2017-01-20 05:21 am (UTC)(link)
Everybody has a secret or two, but the real problem is getting them to own up to it. Most people won't share anything until they trust someone, and I don't know how much time we have between people trusting each other and one of us getting killed.

[This is all pretty nonchalant and factual, simply relaying things as they are.] After that meeting, we at least know some people have magic and stuff that they're missing, too. That's not something the wanted posters list.
elemancy: (pic#10956908)

[personal profile] elemancy 2017-01-20 05:48 pm (UTC)(link)
The posters probably aren't the best judge of much. Kind of selective in what it shares.

[not that noct needed that meeting to know magic and abilities were totally fucked.] We don't know much about anyone. Names and a few small things. Not really who they are, though.

[nobody knows he's a prince, for example.]
hydrokinetics: (That's what they'll say to me say to me)

[personal profile] hydrokinetics 2017-01-20 07:44 pm (UTC)(link)
[It's okay, Noct, you can know you're the prince of darkness in your heart. But anyway, Percy can agree with that assessment. Not many people know he's a demigod, but only one person knows he's the son of Poseidon. That's not hard to agree with.]

Think if we asked the Sheriff he'd actually tell us? He doesn't seem to mind throwing some of us under the bus.
elemancy: (pic#10956884)

[personal profile] elemancy 2017-01-20 08:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe. Pretty sure that guy wants us to leave him alone as much as possible though. Don't really get the feeling he'll help us too much unless it's to play the game.

[at least, that's the impression noct gets. but trying to judge a robot isn't easy.]
hydrokinetics: (When you hear a song from that big lady)

[personal profile] hydrokinetics 2017-01-20 10:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Then what if we make it sound like it's for the game? Get some intel, let him think it's because we want to know who to take out instead of what it really is.
elemancy: (pic#10956904)

[personal profile] elemancy 2017-01-20 10:18 pm (UTC)(link)
...Could work.

[he's still kind of skeptical, honestly. but it's not an idea to shoot down without an honest effort, right?]

Guess the worst that can happen is it doesn't work.
