The town is quiet, eerily so. All animals, all chatter, all gusts of wind have come to a complete stop this morning. A tumbleweed passes by through the center of town and the rocking chair on the Sheriff's porch sways but remains silent. Everything is muted and as the door of the hotel opens, the only sensation that rings utterly true today is this:
One of your own is gone.
And now, as the rules state, it is your job to discover their fate.
Welcome to the investigation post! If your character decides to search an area, please post the name of the location in your header and wait for the mod replies. Anything to discover or not to will be indicated during the course of the thread.
After the body is discovered, an announcement will be made and characters are free to spend the rest of the afternoons how they like. If there are any questions, please shoot a message either to this journal or at robowest.
[So yeah, all right, he was here last week but that was important. Today is just as important and it's why as soon as possible he and Xion are on their way straight to the stocks. Percy, of course, is carrying her because everyone knows by now that Xion would try walking that far on her own. It's much more simple to just carry her.
But at least Milla's here, too?]
Sorry, we were booking it as fast as possible. [And hesitantly:] Milla?
[on the one hand, she feels intense relief that Shinnosuke is okay]
[on the other hand, WHERE IS YUNA??]
Percy. Xion. [she's aware her voice is a little clipped, but, you know. the sight of the dead coyote, the blood, and the utter lack of Yuna has her blood pressure rising a bit]
[Well, thanks for stating their names, Milla—Shinnosuke registers it. Milla, Percy, Xion. He's not surprised.
(Take a guess as to what Yuna did last night, Percy.)
He looks away (a pointless gesture when he's blind, but force of habit), his mouth pressed into a line. After a moment, he takes in a shaky breath and speaks, uncharacteristically quiet.]
[...well. He takes a deep breath. So much for averting a crisis?]
Remember what happened with Jason when Milla and Yuna were here last time? She might be inside. Come on. [And before Xion can protest he's. Going inside the Sheriff's station with Xion bye.]
[And meanwhile, inside, at least where Milla and Shinnosuke can probably hear because he's Percy and who the fuck closes doors around here?]
Hey! [That sure doesn't look great. He's trying to crouch enough to look her over while also holding Xion? Goddamnit he's too young to be a dad, how does anybody do this.]
Shinnosuke! [You fucking tool.] I want answers! [But he's shifting enough to keep a balance on Xion and also try to rouse Yuna.] ...at least she's alive.
[ well whatever fuck shinnosuke. Xion will wriggle free of his arms mostly so he'll set her on the floor beside Yuna. The blood doesn't seem to bother her, anyway. She'll reach out to put a gentle hand on Yuna's shoulder. ]
I'm very relieved that you're both alive, yes, but that was still cruel.
[be still her beating heart. her ribs ache now because every muscle in her body had tensed up at the news. she digs her heel into the dirt, like she's going to book it to the station to check on Yuna, but she decides Percy and Xion are trustworthy to handle it on their own for now]
[so yeah. He will leave Xion to Yuna. Outside he goes and Milla will notice he's pretty annoyed as he approaches the stocks. His hand hovers like he's ready to pull Shinnosuke's hair, but he refrains for now.]
[Sorry, guys, Shinnosuke's still a little shit even when in the stocks.]
There's not much to say, other than that you should all praise Yuna when she wakes up—I didn't know if she would have the guts to use her gun, but I've since learned that she can fend off multiple coyotes by herself.

Shinnosuke is still held in the stocks, so someone might need to help him out because his time is up and he can't, like, see.
There's also a dead coyote next to him and a bit of blood scattered in the dirt. ]

Percy. Xion. [she's aware her voice is a little clipped, but, you know. the sight of the dead coyote, the blood, and the utter lack of Yuna has her blood pressure rising a bit]
Shinnosuke, do you know where Yuna went?
no subject
What happened. Why would Shinnosuke know about Yuna? [What in the hell did you fuckers do.]

The coyotes... they killed her. [...] She's dead.

[okay white noise is over, I'm sorry for this, she's raising her voice a bit]
-- if this is a joke, it isn't very funny!

He wouldn't.
[ A beat. ]
How do you--?

Well. Now they gotta find out what did happen. So inside they go! ]
no subject
She's been attacked by coyotes, yes. Some pretty nasty scratches and bites -- one particularly nasty gash on her arm -- and is covered in blood.
But she's obviously breathing and just seems to have been dragged in and just sort of dumped on the floor there. ]

[thwacks him in the head, because she stayed behind while Percy and Xion went inside, and the laughter is a pretty dead giveaway]
[IT'S A LIGHT THWACK, BUT YOU KNOW]

Yuna? Yuna! Please, wake up!
[ And to Percy, very crossly: ]
Go beat him up!
[ you know who she means ]

Well, aren't you relieved now?
[YUNA'S NOT DEAD. But yeah, he has your answers, Percy.]

Can you tell me what really happened last night?
no subject
I'd like to know the same.

. . . I'm glad she decided to take her weapon with her, then. I originally suggested the bear trap, but I suppose the pistol was a better idea.
[she's proud of you Yuna :'(]
no subject
We're sure it was just coyotes this time?
no subject
[How is Yuna real, he doesn't know.]
After that, someone took her inside. Probably Mr. Sheriff, though I obviously can't know for sure since they didn't say anything.
no subject
The Sheriff is likely a good guess. We can always ask Yuna if she managed to get a good look at them after they took her inside.
I'm actually somewhat proud of you, Shinnosuke.
[ONLY SOMEWHAT because she's still also annoyed at him, but whatever!!]
