It's a rather quaint town when you get down to it. At least, that's what the Sheriff would argue. Warm and dry in the mornings and afternoons with a brisk coolness in the evenings. The perfect type of weather to just sit out on your rocking chair and observe the comings and goings.
... Of course, there's not much in the way of comings and goings when there aren't any actual people here to watch. Nevertheless, don't let that get you down! The town is your oyster and those roosters won't stop crowing until everyone's out of bed. Up and at 'em, rise and shine, it's time to make the day yours!
After all, there's nothing wrong with the town today and you might just want to savor it while it lasts.
This post functions as the general mingle post for the week. Wanted Posters and other small events will be posted in top levels below. If there's any questions or requests, please send a PM or shoot a PP to robowest.
( monday ) [So Eliot found something interesting at the General Store today. He hasn't really gotten much from there other than food, but for once something catches his eye. What's that, you may ask? Why, it's a guitar. If you happen to be there, you might see him pick it up and take it with him. Stop him and ask him about it if you like.
Later that day he'll be a little ways away from town. Around the Homestead, in a quiet area where he's not quite in plain sight. Not that sight matters in this case, because you can probably hear him. Who would've thought that Eliot knows how to play the guitar? More than that...
[He's playing for a bit. Hell, he makes it a pretty good way through the song. Eventually, though, he stumbles slightly over one of the words and he trails off when he does. It's natural, of course, since it's been a while since he played or listened to this song. That job was a while ago.
Still, there's a bit of a frustrated growl there.] Damn, no. What was...
[Now he just moves back to strumming his guitar a little, trying to remember how the song went.]
[.....oooops. Sei had told herself she was going to stay quiet and let him do his thing - she didn't want to make him awkward by making it obvious that she was listening in - but her curiosity overtakes her, and of course she speaks up.
[Why is Percy's thought a question of if the guitar could be used as a bludgeoning tool? No, no, people here are fine and don't deserve his suspicion. Mrs. O'Leary's at Percy's feet today as they enter the General Store and she barks quietly, even while Percy's eyes fall from the guitar and then up to Eliot's face.]
I think this is about the point I stop trying to figure out where everything's coming from around here.
[A nod.] The timing in this place definitely could be better. [He says even as he leans forward to pick up what looks like (apparently) fancy dog food.] We've been here for about five weeks now and new stuff shows up a little too late.
You actually know how to play? [Eliot is a mystery to him and somehow "guitar player" doesn't fit in with everything else he's learned so far.]
[Hope he isn't too into it, since he's getting interrupted in a minute. After listening for a little while, Jason will be making himself known by clapping.
[That interruption startles him just a bit, because. Yeah. He was getting kinda into it. And he did go here specifically in the hopes that no one else would be here, but. Ha ha well, so much for that.]
...Wasn't really expecting an audience. [He might be a bit embarrassed, this is one of the few things he gets flustered about.] ...But uh, thanks. I guess.
[For the clapping because okay, that's a good thing at least.]

Turns out he can sing, too.
How about that? Approach him if you want, doesn't seem like he's noticed anyone just yet. He's too caught up in playing.]
( wildcard )
[hit me up with whatever, i'm open to anything, etc.]
Homestead!
...And he's talented, too! Rather than interrupt, Sei settles herself down to listen.]

Sorry, Eliot.]

When did-- How long have you--
[shit this is embarrassing shit shit shit]
Don't sneak up on people like that!
no subject
[She smiles. Aw, he's all bashful, how cute!]
Just long enough to know you're really good at that! Where did you learn to play?
no subject
There's the slightest frustrated growl at getting caught like this, but that's only a moment. Don't pay it any mind, he's just like that.]
...I dunno, picked up the basics of it when I was a kid. Got better about a year or so ago, when someone showed me the ropes.
This song's hers, actually.

[Sei grins and scoots forward a little, like she's waiting for storytime. (Sorry Eliot.)]
Was it a special someone?
no subject
It was work related, technically speaking. Had to help her out of a bad situation.

That is an instrument, is it not?
no subject
[That's not even a question, that's just him making a statement, because of course he hasn't.]
Yeah. It is.
no subject
It appears similar to a lute, if nothing else.
[he's from ye olden days...]

I don't know, I'm not an expert on musical history or anything.
no subject
... I see. I imagine you play, then?
no subject
But it's been on my mind, so I guess this counts as good timing.
no subject
[So it's a good thing!!]
Perhaps that shall lighten the morale here, if a little.

I think this is about the point I stop trying to figure out where everything's coming from around here.

Yeah, stuff just sorta... appears. Don't even question it anymore. Sure doesn't seem like there's any rhyme or reason to it.
...Not like I'm gonna complain in this case, 'xcept maybe about the timing.

Not like that matters, it's here now. Guess there's no reason not to take it.

no subject
I do. What, is that so surprising?
no subject
No offense, Eliot, but pretty much any time I meet anybody here who has a relatively normal skill I think it's surprising. So yeah, a little bit.
no subject
Hey there, man. Nice tunes??? Good job.]
