It's a rather quaint town when you get down to it. At least, that's what the Sheriff would argue. Warm and dry in the mornings and afternoons with a brisk coolness in the evenings. The perfect type of weather to just sit out on your rocking chair and observe the comings and goings.
... Of course, there's not much in the way of comings and goings when there aren't any actual people here to watch. Nevertheless, don't let that get you down! The town is your oyster and those roosters won't stop crowing until everyone's out of bed. Up and at 'em, rise and shine, it's time to make the day yours!
After all, there's nothing wrong with the town today and you might just want to savor it while it lasts.
This post functions as the general mingle post for the week. Wanted Posters and other small events will be posted in top levels below. If there's any questions or requests, please send a PM or shoot a PP to robowest.
[ Being listed under the week's Most Wanted is... well, it's bewildering, because she hadn't really done anything. Not yet, anyway.
Chane reaches out and pulls the poster off the board, frowning down at it. ]
2. AFTER THE MEETING.
[ Her expression, although pensive, gives away very little. Hands are thrust tightly in her coat pockets. Should someone approach, she'll stop and give them her full and undivided attention. ]
3. WILDCARD.
( It slices, it dices, it's good for all your needs! )
[ If Chane cared more about that sort of thing, she might have... well, stopped to judge the picture either way. Vanity's hold in her is quite different from other women, although hardly gone.
She shakes her head and then points to where it says MOST WANTED with a bewildered expression. ]
[Milla had already seen her own poster, but had determined it was only up there to cause irritation and thus should be ignored. she doesn't blame Chane for tearing down hers, either. although. . .]
Why are you included under the "most wanted" header?
[ Truthfully, she hasn't the foggiest. Aside from striking Ash in the throat, she hasn't really done anything alarming? And in that instance, he did try to grab her first. Barnham may have been correct about it being random.
Pulling a notepad out of her pocket, Chane scribbles down a response is as neat a calligraphic handwriting as she can get considering her writing instrument is a stubby, dull pencil.
I don't know myself, I have not done anything untoward since arriving. ]
[ah. . . so she doesn't talk. Milla reads the message, and then nods]
Neither have I. Although suppose "breaking and entering" could be referring to how I stormed into the Sheriff's building.
[or maybe it's referring to the time she infiltrated the Fennmont Research Center? but that was so long ago, and how would the Sheriff know about that anyway?]
[ Gotta be real, he's a terrible hider. Not only are his shoulders clearly visible, but it's only a few seconds before he peeks out to check if she's still there. ]
[ Chane looks over her shoulder at him and struggles not to visibly recoil away from that toothy, lopsided grin. It's a struggle won, because Chane's restraint is a mighty thing indeed.
... Eventually, she shakes her head and pins the poster back up on the board. ]
[He's tempted to wince when he notices Chane's poster under Most Wanted, but... That might be more condescending than anything, so he doesn't. Either way—]
Think you might have done anything to piss off the Sheriff in the last two days?
[ Without looking up, Chane shakes her head. There's always the possibility that she caused undue harm without knowing it, especially in this new and bizarre town, but - the Sheriff's own poster is up there. Unless he felt like being contrary or, indeed, pissed himself off as well (?), then that's not an accurate measuring stick for how and why people end up MOST WANTED.
Pinning her own poster back up, she gestures to the Sheriff's with a puzzled expression, briefly looking over her shoulder at Jason in lieu of a greeting. ]
[ The paper crinkles noisily as she tugs it, bending in her impersonal grip, and when Percy speaks to her, Chane glances back over. Agreeably, she nods, noticing that he's lucky enough not to be on the MOST WANTED board.
At least her bounty isn't terribly offensive! Chane begins to pin the poster back up. ]
[ Chane's one thing, but this child... Xion's eyes are both brightened and narrowed and it's a dour mix. One that Chane doesn't especially like seeing, especially now that she's considering having children of her own.
Appropriately, she does her best to look a bit more gentle. Shaking her head, she tries to indicate (through light gestures!) that she doesn't think that's the reason. ]
[Elizabeth approaches Chane when the meeting is through, thoroughly frustrated with the outcome of it and what little information they have been given. And what they have? Has all been bad. She's looking for someone who can relate to these feelings, who she can confide in. She hopes to find that in Chane.]
I noticed you didn't say anything during the meeting. That's you on those wanted posters isn't it? If you're like the rest of us, a stranger to these parts, don't you want to dispute that?
[ It's a fair question. If that was only the first of many meetings, Chane anticipates being continually drowned out as the voices around her only get louder and louder, more feverish, goaded by the odd rules of this bloodthirst. It's ... not a comforting thought. Far from it, in fact.
As for Elizabeth wanting to confide in her? Well and, that's up to the young woman. Chane is a bit cold, a bit detached, but she's not actively trying to push away.
Not now. (Or maybe that should be, 'not yet'.)
Chane pulls her notepad out of her coat pocket and writes something down in a clear, calligraphic handwriting, before holding it up for Elizabeth to see.
I'm not concerned about the posters.
And!
The meeting was chaotic. I was fine simply observing.
Although it's clear from her method of communication now that choosing to passively observe wasn't her only reason for not speaking up. That, she believes, doesn't need to be said explicitly. ]

I do not suppose you have done anything unusual this past few days.
