CURRENT POPULATION: 40 It's a rather quaint town when you get down to it. At least, that's what the Sheriff would argue. Warm and dry in the mornings and afternoons with a brisk coolness in the evenings. The perfect type of weather to just sit out on your rocking chair and observe the comings and goings. ... Of course, there's not much in the way of comings and goings when there aren't any actual people here to watch. Nevertheless, don't let that get you down! The town is your oyster and those roosters won't stop crowing until everyone's out of bed. Up and at 'em, rise and shine, it's time to make the day yours! Except there is, perhaps, a few things amiss. This post functions as the general mingle post for the week. Wanted Posters and other small events will be posted in top levels below. Thursday night, in the hotel sitting room

[ Xion will be here with Shinnosuke slightly after 9 PM Thursday night. For one reason or another, she's got a big video camera with her, sat on a table nearby. She'll be trying to flag people to come in, and tell anyone she manages to catch up with that they should grab whoever else they can that's still awake and inside the hotel.

She'll wait a while for as many people to gather as seems both reasonable and possible. Not until everyone is settled will she start speaking. ]

Hi everyone. We decided to call you all here because we found something earlier.

[ She gestures to the camera. ]

This camera was found on the porch of the Sheriff Station. It looked like it was recording, and Shinnosuke and I decided to take a look at it. We don't really know why, but this camera... it can let you see through all the cameras that are in the hotel. The kitchen, the dining room, this room, the hallway.... pretty much everywhere on this floor.

[ A steadying breath. ]

I wanted to put it to a vote what we should do with it.

[And here's Shinnosuke to pipe in with:]

And by the way, since Jason isn't here, someone should inform him of what's going on tomorrow, assuming he isn't dead by then.

[ She hasn't. Gone to look yet. ]

And? Was it connected to anything?

Nope. Just sitting on the porch, like a very suspicious object all in its lonesome.

Do you two know if this camera can record, or does it merely transmit the video?

Yeah, it can. There didn't seem to be anything on there, though, besides the transmissions.

They really were watching us... how revolting.

Possibly. That's why we're having this discussion—to decide what that way is.

I thought about maybe using it to try and stop the murders, but... there's a lot of problems with that.

I'd say we should keep it in the hands of someone who won't abuse it. [someone who'd be honest if they caught anything happening on it.] If old Scrap Heap's not looking to take it back.

I don't mind taking responsibility for it.

That is... troubling. And strange, though I suppose the strange is the normal in this town at this point.

[ He furrows his brow lightly, then shakes his head. ]

I suppose the fundamental question becomes whether we should keep it or destroy it. I would advocate keeping it, personally.

I think we should, too. It's just ... what to do with it after that.

[ The monkey, held in Simon's arms, squirms and reaches out for the camera with greedy, grabby paws. He is diligently keeping it out of range. ]

Um, I have a little bit of experience with electronics...

Nope, we're not handing anything to you while that stupid monkey's around.

Not only what we should do with it, but what about the other cameras in the hotel that're around? [And. You know. Apparently watching all of them?]

That one should go somewhere and with someone who can keep an eye on what it's doing. You guys just...found it?

[He's going to listen for a bit (because he has no idea what a camera is?? He needs a moment) but eventually he does pipe up, arms crossed and brow furrowed.]

It appears as though we agree that it should be kept. However, I should caution as well that whoever retains possession of that... "camera" shall likely be in greater danger.

I can only believe it shall make them a target for any who would see it as a threat, or the Sheriff himself. ...For those who would volunteer, keep that greater danger in mind.

Could just lock it up somewhere no one can get it. That takes care of the whole trust issue.

[She's been listening to the suggestions, forming her own thought. This really is just like the tower...but this isn't the time to think about that. Besides, what an interesting device, an evolution of something familiar to her.]

I'm unfamiliar with this kind of technology, but is there a safe or lockbox of any kind we could store it in for now? In the meantime we should search for more of them.
